The University is organised into six Colleges. Members can join a single college as a purist caster or multiple ones to gain a wider, but less in depth education.
The six colleges are:
The mighty and powerful college of Air - Those who can do, and those who can do join the mightiest of all the colleges, the Air college. From throwing sizzling lightning bolts to blast ones enemies, calling violent winds to knock a shield wall over, or to step in the space between spaces and teleport in the midst of the enemy and fry them with a crackling shocking grasp, Air mages are a force to be feared and admired depending if they are against or with you. A party with the mighty Sorcerer Valeth and Sorcerer Marius the Magnificent-Squeak in it* has naught to fear apart from ensuring that their supplies of pastries doesn't mysteriously dissapear.
Fire - fine, I mean any monkey can bash two rocks together and make fire, but whatever. Although to be fair Firebolts are handy and there's nothing funnier than watching a knight suddenly find their armour heating up, and I guess Kinook, the greatest Supian Shaman, is handy to keep about with his fire blades, not to mention the horror that is the spell "Melt Animate".
Water - Water, water, everywhere but what water mage has ever paid for their round of drinks. Although a sudden slow spell from Tenth is useful and many an opponent has been taken down by a mighty Ice Javalin. Not to mention that time he cast a greater mass-vanish on the enemies shields and weapons, that was pretty impressive watching their faces. Okay, that was worth buying a drink for,
Earth - You know the sort of kids who gets really excited by their pet rock? Like that but older and even more boring. Although when Twig casts an earthquake it isn't so boring, and the way he makes persuing enemies trip and stumble is amusing, and being able to protect oneself with stoneskin can be useful, and watching that mummy take a powerful earth hammer to the face that one time. Yeah, I guess they are okay (it was so cool to see!)
Light - Not helpful when trying to get to sleep. But useful to dazzle and blind your enemies, and Mai'Ru does do a good job of being able to weave many protective magics around himself, and when he sets off a great Nova flash, the damage we can get in and do is great, and at high levels being able to call down a great bolt of starlight to both damage and blind our enemies is a pretty large help.
Dark - Not helpful when trying to find your way to the breakfast table. However being able to weaken our enemies and reduce the damage they can do, or striking with a dark bolt, or disintigrate the enemies weapons, or even just to banish an enemy champion to the plane of darkness as Vydalia does to even up the battlefield is helpful I suppose. Yeah, they can be pretty bad assed.
